    Common Mistakes to Avoid

[NO] Don't transfer points before confirming availability
[NO] Don't book through Google Flights with points - always airline direct
[NO] Don't ignore fuel surcharges (can make/break the deal)
[NO] Don't book one-way only - roundtrip often better value
[NO] Don't wait for "perfect dates" - grab availability when you see it

    Pro Tips

[YES] Consider positioning flights (fly domestic to better departure airport)
[YES] Mix cabin classes if needed (business one-way, economy other)
[YES] Book flights first, THEN hotels (easier to find hotels than award seats)
[YES] Join airline frequent flyer programs BEFORE transferring points
[YES] Set ExpertFlyer alerts for your desired routes

Just booked DEL-FRA on Lufthansa using this guide! 62,500 KrisFlyer miles via HDFC transfer. The A380 first class cabin is insane for a business class price!

Turkish M&S availability is terrible though. I've been searching for 3 months for DEL-VIE and literally ZERO business class space on any date.

Virgin Atlantic sweet spot is real. Did DEL-LHR last month for 50K Amex points + ₹7K tax. The Upper Class Suite is better than many first class products.

Important correction: Singapore recently increased Europe business redemptions to 73,000 miles for many routes. The 62,500 is only for off-peak now.

    2

The new Air India 787 business is good but AVOID the 777-200LR. Old seats from 2007, falling apart. Check aircraft type before booking.

I tried the Turkish M&S route and their website crashed FIVE TIMES during booking. Finally called and agent couldn't find my transferred points. Nightmare experience.

Pro tip: If you can't find biz award space, book economy and bid for upgrade. Often works out cheaper in miles than straight business class booking.

Real talk: Is the complexity worth it? I spent 40 hours researching/booking my Europe trip. Could've worked overtime and bought the ticket with less stress.

I mix programs. Transfer minimum needed for outbound on Virgin, return on Singapore. Diversifies risk in case one program devalues.
